When to use it
- You send your CV straight to a person: by email, through a referral or at an event.
- You want your skills and languages to be seen before anything else.
When to pick another template
- You apply through a company portal. Some applicant tracking systems read two-column layouts out of order, so use the ATS or Classic template there.
- The employer asks for a photo: use the CV with Photo template.
How screening systems read it
- The PDF contains real text, so it can be searched and copied.
- Because of the sidebar, some systems may read the sidebar and the main column in a different order than a person would. Keep a single-column version for online applications.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep the same content and switch templates?
Yes. Your content stays when you change template, so you can export a Modern version for people and an ATS version for portals.
Can I change the sidebar colour?
Not at the moment. The sidebar uses a fixed dark slate colour.
